Lazarus Asimonye; NPOM

Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of Austin Laz & Co. PLC — a pioneering engineer whose lifelong dedication to refrigeration research put Nigeria on the global manufacturing map.

  • Became MD/CEO in 1982 when the company transformed into a Limited Liability Company.
  • Invented the Austin Lazarus Ice Machine — the first Made-in-Nigeria ice block making machine.
  • Holds three patented rights to his credit and has won the National Merit Award for Indigenous Process Technology and the Nigeria Productivity Order of Merit (NPOM) Award. This excludes other international awards.
  • Former Chairman, Manufacturers Association of Nigeria (MAN) Edo - Delta Branch.
  • Former Board Member, National Electricity Regulation Commission (NERC) Benin Forum.
  • Former member of the Governing Council, Federal Polytechnic, Bida-Niger State.
